About Me

My name is Mark Leonard and I fold paper. What more do you need to know?

OK then, if you insist...

Born Rawtenstall, Lancashire in 1973. No formal training as an artist. Took up paper folding while studying for a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester (a degree which I never completed). Joined the British Origami Society in 1998.

I currently live and work in the city of Durham, in north-east England, where I teach origami, create original works, and fulfill commissions for private and commercial clients. (I also have a day job, but it's very dull...)

Published work

Diagrams and photographs of several of my pieces have been published in various publications of the British Origami Society, Origami USA, and the Asociación Espańola de Papiroflexia. It's not that easy to get hold of these publications if you're not a member of those societies, so you might be more interested in....

Commercial books

Like what you get in bookshops. I have no plans at the moment to do a book of my own, but you can find diagrams of my work in the following:

Adult Origami
Nick Robinson
New Holland Publishers (UK), 2004
ISBN 1843307448

(Published in the US as Very Naughty Origami, Universe, 2004, ISBN 0789312077)

You can also find photos of my work in:

  The Origami Bible
Nick Robinson
Collins & Brown, 2004
ISBN 1843401053

  The Encyclopedia of Origami
Nick Robinson
Search Press Ltd, 2004
ISBN 1844480259

Hmm, Nick Robinson seems to crop up in that list quite a bit...
